A former journalist who loves to get stuck into creative campaigns and help clients to build their own corporate narrative
My specialism at 56° North involves all things media and storytelling.
Typically that takes the form of helping clients to develop a strong corporate narrative – something which helps audiences understand what the client stands for, why they are important and what their plans are for the future.
I also get stuck into day-to-day media relations for several of our clients and to help shape long-term media and communications strategies.
Probably my favourite part of the job is the opportunity to get creative when building client campaigns and helping to translate brilliant ideas in great communications.
Before life at 56° North I worked as a journalist, most recently at the Press and Journal newspaper in Aberdeen. Working in news was always going to be interesting, but particularly so when working during the digital transformation of the sector.
I helped to develop digital-first storytelling techniques at the paper which earned me a Scottish Press Award in 2022 for best campaign and a shortlist nomination in the digital initiative category at the UK Press Awards in 2021.
Being present during the digital transformation of newsrooms gave me an incredible insight into the types of creative, data-led content which really resonate with modern audiences.
And… I’m pretty good at imitating accents. (Please only ask if I’ve had at least one beer/no more than five beers.)
