Lydia Brown
Consultant
A policy professional who loves to get into the details and understand impacts of complex policy agenda.
As a new consultant at 56° North, my main focus will be delving into financial services policy and helping clients to understand and navigate a fast-changing policy landscape against a dynamic political backdrop.
Before joining 56° North I worked for a national charity focusing on Parliamentary and Public Affairs. In this role, I closely monitored policy developments and brought our advocacy and insight to Parliament, organising parliamentary events, as well as coordinating the work of an All-Party Parliamentary Group. I got to grips with the complexities of fuel poverty policy; an area that sits at the intersection of energy, health and housing and helped to champion vulnerable consumers across the UK.
I studied Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Edinburgh, where I had the chance to develop my language skills as well as my understanding of literature, history and political systems across Europe, Africa and South America.
And… Which may not come as a surprise considering what I studied… I speak Spanish and Portuguese… and my language skills seem to be enhanced by having a pint or two…
