A public affairs and policy specialist who enjoys helping clients drive change on complex issues
At 56° North, I specialise in helping clients in Scotland and across the UK engage their political stakeholders, enhance their reputations, and influence the policy issues that matter to them.
Day-to-day this can involve drafting compelling campaign messaging, designing targeted stakeholder engagement strategies and analysing policy developments for clients. The bit of the job I enjoy most is working with our clients to understand how the latest policy trends and challenges impact them and their sectors. I also enjoy collaborating with colleagues to find more creative and innovative ways for clients to engage their stakeholders and make sure their views and key messages get cut-through.
Before joining 56° North I led on manufacturing policy for the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), working with businesses and trade associations to help drive positive change on areas including sustainability and the circular economy, business competitiveness, skills, and innovation. Working directly with businesses during Brexit negotiations, a General Election and the Covid-19 pandemic gave me an invaluable insight into how firms are impacted by external events and political developments.
Earlier in my career, I spent five years at other public affairs and communications consultancies and worked in the public affairs team at the Food and Drink Federation (FDF).
And… I pride myself on my quality puns.
