Sophie Ashcroft
Senior Director
A reputation management and media relations specialist
With over 20 years of experience in communications, I am one of 56° North’s media specialists, with a flair for engagement, crisis communications and reputation management and profile building.
Working across a range of clients, I have led strategic communications accounts for some of our high-profile clients providing counsel and operational support on media engagement and management; not only to manage an issue but to amplify clients’ stories and raise awareness.
Highly regarded across the industry, with a media contact book to match, I enjoy getting to know and working closely with client teams to help them achieve their goals. I bring a wealth of experience and guidance to strategic communications and campaigns projects, having led press offices and teams within British Athletics, UK Anti-Doping, Sunderland AFC and most recently, Team Scotland.
Formerly a board member for Scottish Hockey, I currently sit on the board of a large multi-academy trust providing strategic advice on growth strategy, and have worked at Olympic and Commonwealth Games, as well as range of World and European athletics events.
And… I am a former international hockey umpire having represented both Scotland and GB on the world stage. Now retired, my weekends are now mostly spent next to the sea in the North East of England with my three boys, husband and dog, or coaching the Rockcliff Rugby Club’s U6’s.
